Haiku
lightning strikes above
the dog whimpers off to bed
the light above blows

Editor’s Note
In three very distinct movements, there is so much going on here, The language and images have been perfectly chosen. I kept coming back to this haiku for what it says in words, and, more importantly, for what it might be hinting at; the final line, ‘the light above blows’ could be interpreted in many ways, all of which made me think, and that’s always the sign of a successful poem.
