Seasonal Farewell
We wave goodbye to winter as the spring starts coming.
We wave goodbye to winter as the evenings get bright.
We wave goodbye to winter as the birds start humming.
We wave goodbye to winter as it starts to feel right.
We wave goodbye to spring as the summer will begin.
We wave goodbye to spring as the summer holidays arrive.
We wave goodbye to spring as the clouds go in.
We wave goodbye to spring as the bees come out of their hive.
We wave goodbye to summer as the autumn is calling.
We wave goodbye to summer as it starts pouring rain.
We wave goodbye to summer as the autumn leaves start falling.
We wave goodbye to summer as it starts to feel insane.
We wave goodbye to autumn as winter begins.
Suddenly it is winter and the cycle starts again.

Every line in this poem, a full-stopped statement in its, creates a strong and confident tone. I especially enjoyed the line in stanza three about waving goodbye to summer ‘as it starts to feel insane’. (The lack of a set routine in that season, especially if it’s particularly sunny and warm, can indeed feel that way!) which is a good example of this writer’s observational skills, one of several contained here. I also liked how the structure of the poem mirrors the cyclical pattern of the seasons.
