The Bird
a bird light with joy
higher higher than all the clouds
its feathers rustle
by Jack O’Neill
Editor’s Note
The light of the sky, the lightness of the clouds and the bird’s lightness in the air that is its domain are all beautifully served by this writer’s choice of words and images. The final line introduces sound in a way which is unexpected (most writers would have perhaps thought of birdsong first) I really enjoyed this lovely haiku.
